Subject: Investigation on trafficking of Ramzan Nagar Madrasa student Munira Sultana.

Overview of the incident: Madrasa student Munira Sultana, daughter of Mujibur Rahaman Gaji, village Ramzan Nagar, thana Shamnagar, district Shatkhira. Abdul Hamid, alias Holo, son of Mandar Shardar, village Mirjapur, treid to allure Munira by making a false promise to arrange an attractive job for her. Munira was convinced by the proposal. Hamid’s instead her to meet him at Shatkhira Cinema Hall and she acted accordingly. However, Munira found Hamid was having discussion with his associates regarding sending her to India for prostitution. As soon as Munira learnt about the plan she started to scream and cried for help. Local people rescue Munira and informed Hamid handed over to Shatkhira thana. It has been found that trafficker Abdul Hamid’s daughter Ratna Khatun is staying in Bombay red light area and helps her father for trafficking young girls by offering attractive job and salary package.



Statement of victim Munira Sultana: According to the statement of victim Munira Sultana, she got married to Jainul Abedin and after two to three months of their marriage, Jainul started torturing her brutally for dowry money and sent her back to her father’s place to bring money. However, Munira’s father took loan in high interest and gave the money to Jainul Abedin. The money did not conclude the problem. After some days Munira’s husband again put pressure for more money. This time Munira denied to seek money to her father. As a result she had to leave her husband’s place and took shelter at her father’s place. In this situation, a person named Abdul Hamid from a village near by approached to Munira and tried to convince her with a job offer. On the basis of Hamid’s instruction Munira went to meet him near Shatkhira Cinema Hall and there she heard that Hamid was discussing about the plan with some of his associates to send her to India to his daughter Ratna’s place, who lives in Bombay prostitution area. After hearing the words, Munira cried for help and people in the neighborhood came to rescue her and informed her parents to come to the spot. Later on Munira’s parents came and handover Abdul Hamid Holo to thana.

Statement of Munira’s parents: According to Munira’s parent’s statement, Hamid alias Holo, used to live in a near by village and often visit Munira’s fathers grocery shop and there Hamid used to talk to Munira and her brother but Munira’s parents never welcomed Hamid at their place. Still Hamid kept coming to their place often.

Statement of Thana In-charge: Thana In-charge Mr. Abdur Razzak informed that, it has been found by primary investigation that Abdul Hamid Holo was the leader of trafficking network. Moreover, Mr. Razzak also confirmed that he would take necessary actions against Hamid and take statement from victim Munira under section 22.

Comments: It has been found by investigation that Abdul Hamid alias Holo was an active member of trafficking network. Many young women are now in prostitution allured by him. We believe that justice will be established if the case proceeds on through BNWLA. However the statement of victim was recorded under the section no 22 in order to get better result of the case.
